Catchment Area

The Map shows the area which is served by Selsey Medical Practice. Any residents living in this area may register with our practice.

If you live outside of the green border, you need to register with one of the other ChAMP practices. You can find details of these by clicking this link.

If you move from Selsey to another area, please register as quickly as possible with your new local practice so that your medical record is appropriately transferred and the continuity of your care can be maintained.

Our Philosophy of Care

  • This is very simple - every patient is entitled to receive the highest standard of care available. The doctors and staff wish to provide a friendly, efficient and personal service to all of our patients and we believe that in general we succeed.
  • We are not complacent and constantly strive to improve the care that we offer, actively engaging in audit of our performance in order to improve both our clinical performance and the service that we provide. The doctors and staff regularly attend educational courses to keep abreast of developments in care.
  • Families, children and their problems are very important to the doctors and we believe that an understanding of these problems and relationships forms the basis of a good general practice.

Our Mission Statement

  • 'We strive to provide the highest standard of care available; we work to empower our patients to manage their own health'

Wider Organisation - PCN and ICB

GP surgeries are encouraged to work together to care for patient populations of 30,000 - 50,000. This ‘group of surgeries’ is called a Primary Care Network (PCN). Selsey Medical Practice is a member of the ChAMP PCN (Chichester Area Medical Practices). The list of ChAMP members is shown below.

By working together, ChAMP practices can offer a wider range of services to patients than would be possible for individual practices. This includes services such as physiotherapy, improved GP access and social prescribing. The network also enables us to offer a wider choice of appointments to our patients.

  • Cathedral Medical Group
  • Langley House Surgery
  • Lavant Road Surgery
  • Parklands Surgery
  • Selsey Medical Practice
  • Southbourne Surgery
  • Tangmere Medical Centre
  • Witterings Medical Centre

The PCNs are part of a larger organisation called an Integrated Care Board (ICB) – ours is called NHS Sussex. This organisation agrees the strategic priorities and resource allocation for all NHS organisations in Sussex.

Sexual Safety Charter

In 2023, NHS England published the Sexual Safety Charter.

The charter was developed by NHS England, in collaboration with lived experience organisations, professional bodies, employers and partners across healthcare. The charter is about ensuring that the workplace is a safe place to work for all NHS staff and that patients are adequately protected. Where sexual misconduct does occur, organisations should:

  • know how to support people who report it
  • have policies in place to help staff and patients report it
  • make sure investigations take place

These are the 10 Principles

  1. We will actively work to eradicate sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace.
  2. We will promote a culture that fosters openness and transparency and does not tolerate unwanted, harmful and/or inappropriate sexual behaviours.
  3. We will take an intersectional approach to the sexual safety of our workforce, recognising certain groups will experience sexual harassment and abuse as a disproportionate rate.
  4. We will provide appropriate support for those in our workforce who experience unwanted, inappropriate and/or harmful sexual behaviours.
  5. We will clearly communicate standards of behaviour. This includes expected action for those who witness inappropriate, unwanted and/or harmful sexual behaviour.
  6. We will ensure appropriate, specific, and clear policies are in place. They will include appropriate and timely action against alleged perpetrators.
  7. We will ensure appropriate, specific, and clear training is in place.
  8. We will ensure appropriate reporting mechanisms are in place for those experiencing these behaviours.
  9. We will take all reports seriously and appropriate and timely action will be taken in all cases.
  10. We will capture and share data on prevalence and staff experience transparently.

You may request a suitably trained chaperone for any procedure, test or examination.

Friends and family are not permitted to act as chaperones.
